Captain Leland Emet (Lee) Bolt was born in Payette, Idaho, 30 August 1928, and grew up in nearby Emmett. He graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1951, and served in USS LENAWEE (APA-195), USS PRINCETON (CV37), Fleet Gunnery School, San Diego, and USS UHLMANN (DD-687).
He remained in the Ready Naval Reserve, and joined the Engineering department at General Dynamics – Convair Division. In 1975 he earned his MS - Systems Management from the University of Southern California (USC). His assignments at Convair were Engineering Planning, Operations Research, and Support Systems Manager for the Tomahawk Cruise Missile Team. He wrote portions of many new business proposals and technical reports in a variety of disciplines.
Lee’s memberships included Associate Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), in which he held several San Diego Section positions, including Section Chairman. Other memberships include: the National Genealogical Society, U. S. Naval Institute, Military Officers Association of America, and USS MIDWAY Museum.
