About the Book

On a planet named Frandis is the large continent of Traztajor. Set in the great sea, it is divided into eight different countries. Kangalor is the largest of these countries. The population is mostly hardworking, peaceful peasants ruled from Orvain City by an indolent, pleasure-loving Satrup. Zakard Lei, the ruthless and power-seeking leader of the Das Blaazd Society of Thaumaturgery, which is based in the upland sector of Kangalor, rises up against the rest of the country, seeking to enslave and bend the population to his will. The Maj society of Thaumaturgery, led by the respected and phenomenally powerful Zalund Arj, joins with the independent thaumaturges to defend and protect all the people of Kangalor. The Satrup sits in his palace, demanding expensive entertainments while refusing to take any interest in his country’s difficulties. His courageous younger brother, Prince Lomax, joins the generals of the Kangalor Army. On the borderland, at the head of his troops, he defends the country and its citizens with a bloody sword. Courageous agents enter the Das Blaazd territories to send back information about Lei’s invasion strategies and troop movements, only to be tracked and endangered by Lei’s murderous counteragents.

About the Author

The author was born in a small village in South Yorkshire, England. As the second of four children, she soon learned that selfishness was not tolerated. She loved to lose herself in books, even writing short stories and poems. This was not encouraged by a mother, who considered that a daughter’s time was best occupied learning to clean, cook, and sew. As a young woman, she joined the WRNS, where she learned to be independent and part of a great team. She married a petty officer and lived in Kent and Portsmouth. They had one daughter. The marriage lasted ten years. Returning to Yorkshire with her daughter, she worked first as a stock controller then as a buyer before becoming an administrator. She enjoyed working with other teams of people and built a social life for herself around her work and colleagues. In her spare time, she still reads a lot, completes code words, plays scrabble against the computer, and enjoys jigsaw puzzles, especially through those long winter months. She holds strong political views, but democratically, she believes that everybody has a right to their own opinions. She likes people who can persuade her to think differently but not those who demand it of her.
