The others had all left or were finishing up as Calvin entered the restroom. He quickly found an open urinal and felt ten pounds erupt from him. It seemed hours flew by before he was done. The passengers that came before him were all done and washing their hands and exiting the restroom except for one man who hurried out of the bathroom straight from the one of the stalls. Mental note, Calvin thought, no shaking hands with that guy. Finally, Calvin moved to the sink to wash his hands. Standing in the mirror was an old, tired fellow with bags forming under his eyes. Man, Calvin thought, I’m getting old. “CALVIN,” a voice said with a boom. Calvin jerked his hands up and water sprayed out of the sink onto the floor. He looked around to see someone speak to him, but nobody was there. “CALVIN,” the voice bellowed again. This time Calvin looked for a speaker. He was half expecting to hear someone tell him his luggage was on its way to Germany. “CALVIN, THIS IS GOD.” No movement, no breath, nothing. Calvin didn’t move a muscle, not an inch. It took nearly an eternity before he took a breath, and it was deep and hard. “CALVIN JAMES. YOU HAVE BEEN NEGLECTING ME, HAVEN’T YOU?” Calvin thought hard for a second: No, this is not happening. Someone is playing a trick on me. He looked around again, but nobody was there. “NO NEED TO LOOK FOR ME, CALVIN; YOU KNOW WHERE I AM.” Calvin wanted to run out of the restroom as fast as possible, but something kept him in there. Something wanted him to hear. “CALVIN JAMES. I NEED YOU.” No. This has to be a joke. This is not happening. Not again. Calvin James the man who heard God. Calvin James the man who went crazy. “CALVIN, SAVE MY PEOPLE, CALVIN. SAVE MY PEOPLE.” Then there was nothing. For a moment there was only the drip of the faucet and silence. Suddenly a man turned the corner and startled Calvin. “Did you hear that?” Calvin asked, hoping the man would say yes and his fears would be at ease. But he didn’t. Calvin was the only one to hear. Calvin, he asked himself, was that God? Then in a run that would put Olympic athletes to shame, Calvin raced for the door and was gone.

Calvin is having a rough week. His plane is late, a billboard nearly slices him in two, a train almost runs him over, and he completely destroys the property of a technology giant. All of this is happening because Calvin swears he heard God tell him to “save my people” while visiting the airport restroom. As Calvin’s embarks on a heroic journey to follow God’s plan, Detective Tommy Ray begins an investigation into the strange happenings around his town. Not only does his path cross with Calvin, but also with two pranksters and a high school student who is also hearing voices. As their stories begin to overlap, Tommy must determine whether the events are just coincidental, a hoax, or if all of this is happening for a reason. When everything culminates in a standoff with a man holding a gun, Tommy must decide whether to surrender to God’s will and leave his destiny in the hands of a man he barely knows. As the situation escalates, Tommy is about to discover that Calvin is willing to risk everything just to fulfill his mission. A Voice from the Restroom shares the engaging tale of one man’s unusual quest as he attempts to satisfy God’s will and save His people.
