When the car finally came to a stop after tumbling end over end, Rachel Leanne Mitchell was barely conscious. She was awake enough though, to try to reach out to her daughter in the back seat. She moved her own blood soaked hair from her eyes, only to see her daughter, Candice Lynn, slumped over in her car seat. Rachel’s throat had been severed by the seat belt, so she wept with silent screams of terror. She knew her daughter was dead, and she would soon follow. She thought of her husband and little boy, who were home waiting for them. Tonight was going to be lasagna for dinner, the kids’ favorite. Rachel saw a woman next to the car. The woman stood there without words. Rachel summoned all of the strength she could to raise her arm toward the woman for help, but the woman simply walked away, offering no help. Rachel Leanne turned to look at her beautiful daughter, one last time. With tears and blood streaming down her face, and in the agony of silence, she closed her eyes forever.

About the Author
D. M. Frederick spent several years as a police officer in the Midwest before he was injured in the line of duty. He used his experiences as an officer to write several short stories over the years, and this ultimately prompted him to sit down and put together this trilogy. He spent several years revisiting experiences as an officer and now put those experiences onto paper in a real, lifelike, and understandable story of fiction, full of action, adventure, and emotion. D. M. Frederick now resides in the state of Florida with his wife and son. His passion for this project has made for many hours of hard work, dedication, and joy.
