"Bad news" Ross's dad said. "I'm afraid the holiday's off". The phone did nothing. "Your dad's boss has demanded his presence at a conference in Paris for all of the next week" Ross tried to look disappointed. The phone rang. "I'll get it" his Dad said. There was more suspense as his Dad rumbled in the hall. Then his Dad came in smiling. "Problem's solved", he said. "I've found someone to look after Ross, if he's willing which leaves you, love, free to come to Paris with me". Ross gulped. Could it have been the wrong phone call? "Grandma?" he asked. "No that outward bound place you mentioned. Amazing coincidence, but Mrs Rice just rang to ask if you'd like to take Chris's place as he's ill with mumps", he paused and looked a little doubtful. "I suppose you are still keen. I said yes. Should have asked you first really". "Yes please" said Ross.

About the Book
Ross is desperate to show his parents he is nearly grown up and can go on holiday without them. He is not to know that his first holiday alone will leave him coping with a disaster he’d never been taught to cope with. He and his new friends have to survive a storm and injuries by themselves until they are found and rescued.
About the Author
Margot was born in Reigate, Surrey, but moved around so much as a child she does not know where she is from. Her favorite hobby is sailing, which she teaches, as well as racing in any boat she can get her hands on. She now lives in Redditch and spends her nonsailing free time with her cat or out on her bicycle, enjoying the countryside or gardening. “The beauty of nature is a great stimulus to writing, even when the books are set in an urban environment. Probably all my characters at some time will be allowed to go out and roam in the natural world. I hope it encourages some of my readers to try it for themselves,” she says.
