About the Book

When Sissy Calhoun came to her brother Cory’s wedding, she believed that her ten years of solitary life as an author was exactly what she’d wanted. She was then forced to look into the eyes of her brother’s former law partner, Marshall Walker, a young widower and a man who could turn any woman’s head. She was determined she would resist those beautiful brown eyes.

Marshall had arrived in this small town along Cape Cod Bay hoping to recover from the endless work in which he had tried to drown his sorrow after the death of his wife. He now wants to start living again and is immediately captivated by Sissy, but he soon discovers that winning her heart may be a struggle he’ll find almost impossible to win.

About the Author

Before 1997, Sally’s home had always been in Illinois. She graduated from high school and immediately went to work in the general office of a chain of retail lumber yards as a secretary, bookkeeper, receptionist, and a typist of many form letters.

She’d always enjoyed math and English and had spent many hours, in her early teens, writing to service men during WWII and also during the Korean War, which then included her future first husband, Gus Lytle, who passed away at age forty-seven.

She’d written a program for the women’s association of her church and loved to think up simple poems, but she never dreamed that someday she would thoroughly enjoy sitting at a computer, instead of a typewriter, putting her thoughts into a future novel. For it to be at seventy-five years of age was even a more surprising coincidence, but she now has several books published.

After a few years in North Carolina, she and her second husband, J. T. Russell, moved to Kansas to be near his daughter’s family, and that was where most of her writing was done. After his death in 2012, she moved back to her hometown in Illinois to be near her two sons and their families. She spends time at the computer keeping in touch with friends and occasionally making a change or two to her manuscripts that are not yet published.
