I apologize for foul language, images, and truths that will offend you. I don’t mean to shock as much as emphasize my points. I have decided to be blunt with this book, which may shock and or embarrass some of my family. While this is not my intention, it is unavoidable to tell my story – the full story of my journey. So, if you are a member of my family, you’ll probably want to stop reading now (but thanks for buying a copy ). I value humor and I laugh at myself as much as at others; but make no mistake, this book is aimed at fatties of all kinds, sizes, shapes, and creeds. I will be insulting you, but I can empathize with you more than your personal trainer or doctor can. Why? ‘Cause I’ve been there, been fat, had a problem, fixed it. So can you. Now quit your bitching and keep reading.
How am I going to motivate you to make this radical change in your lifestyle? I am going to use significant positive reinforcement. HOWEVER, coupled with this positive reinforcement, I’m going to use psychological concepts of positive punishment that may offend, shock, or anger you. GOOD! Use that shock or anger to motivate you to cease the behavior that’s making you fat and unhealthy. As stated earlier, the goal of punishment is to decrease the behavior that precedes the punishment. The behavior is eating poorly, not exercising, and not focusing on an overall healthy lifestyle. You will be mentally and verbally punished by the addition of my harsh words. I will, however, reinforce positively, your behaviors that lead you away from fatness and into healthiness.
This book is my account of my inspiration and my journey. This book is about how I lost 60 pounds in 6 months doing exactly what our mother’s told us to do when we were kids. (FYI: It was actually 85 pounds in about 9.5 months but 60 in 6 made a better book title.) This is not a “how to guide” for losing weight. It is my story and what inspired me, pained me, and eventually motivated me. This book is a vehicle for me to continue my healing and keep my head screwed on straight. Over the course of six months and beyond I saw how my journey affected people and the closer I got to my goals the more I felt I needed to share my story. Ergo, 60 in 6: Everything Your Mother Told You To Do.
If you're reading this then there's an 80 percent chance you are fat. If you're not fat (to be defined in a minute), you probably were at some point or may be in future; therefore, this book is you. I guarantee you 100 percent that you know someone who is fat. So, if you can say, "I know this guy who lost all this weight and I believe you can to,” then please bring my inspiration to others and your good karma will be rewarded. If you're a skinny marathoner or someone from Kenya, you don’t need my help getting skinny. If you're in your 20s, you probably won't listen to me anyway because you still have a fast metabolism and think you have all the answers anyway. If you are more than 30 years old, then you will be able to relate to and appreciate the last six months of my life. If you are the parents of someone less than 30 years old, who is a fatty, you may also be able to help them without them even knowing it. Basically, if you care about anyone who is fat, including yourself, and you want to change it, then keep reading.
