Chapter Two Defining Factor of Disappointment Success is not measured by what a man accomplishes, but by the opposition he has encountered and the courage with which he has maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds. Charles A. Lindbergh, Aviation Pioneer Overcoming obstacles is one of life’s certainties; that is if we are committed to fulfilling our destinies. This fact is not a popular topic but a needful one. For the purposes of our lesson in this book, I will focus on the defining factor of disappointment. Disappoint is defined as “the feeling of sadness or displeasure caused by the non-fulfillment of one’s hopes or expectations”. It can also be anything or person to cause such a feeling. Some major causes of disappointment may be: • being a perfectionist (imaginary world) • overconfidence/arrogance • unrealistic goals (lack of priority or do-ability) • having false ideas about rejection or failure (not using failure as feedback) • unforeseen tragedy, calamity and distress Disappointments can result from unfulfilled expectations of self, others, events, and outcomes either less than or contrary to what we desired. And please understand this friends, life is riddled with potential disappointments. Our remedy for all of life’s disappointments and setbacks is the prevailing power of hope. As God is building us, the enemy of our faith is attempting to destroy us. These disappointments have the power to mark us like an insignia upon our hearts. How we respond or overcome the impact of the varied disappointments will be the making or breaking of us one and all. We must hold to our hope. God’s Word has given us His eternal hope… Jeremiah 29:11 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 11 For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Psalm 42:5 5 Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence. 11 Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. Philippians 1:6 6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. These Scriptures aid us in our walk towards fulfillment. They allow us to set out expectation in God, who will not; cannot fail no matter what faces us. If trusted in, leaned on and relied upon, He will finish what He has started in and with our lives.

About the Book
Waiting is something that every person must do. Especially those of us fueled with hope of a great outcome in life. Most people know little to nothing at all about how to wait. Though everyone must do it, most do not know how. Additionally, many do not know that there are principles on how to wait in the Word of God.
This book is taken from the living pages of the life of Tracy L. De Volt. A former drug and alcohol abuser who had submitted her life to the principles of Winning at the Waiting Game. Our greatest hope is that you will read them, apply them and WIN in life, business and ministry!
About the Author
Tracy L. De Volt is a vanguard for the underdog. Tracy received Christ at the age of seventeen. After struggling for three additional years with drug and alcohol addiction, she was completely set free by simply reading and praying daily the Word of God. The power of God’s Word to renew the mind and destroy yokes is her testimony and life’s conviction. Tracy is a graduate of Rhema Bible College and Oklahoma Wesleyan University in OK. She serves as organizing Pastor for Lighthouse Worship Center Churches, Inc. She is CEO/President for Eternal Light Ministries, Inc., as well as, Tracy De Volt Ministries all located in Aurora, IL. Her message is the Message of Light that will bring not only the Church, but also a darkened-hopeless world, into the knowledge of the true nature of God. Tracy has ministered the Word of the Lord since 1990 working with children, youth and adults of all ages. Manifestation/revelation, simplicity and great joyfulness are signature of her ministry.
