AUTUMN MIGRATION In autumn, the flocks of tourists migrating through Maine change from the lobster-red beach goers to the wide-eyed leaf-peepers gliding in for a tantalizing view of God’s majesty as revealed by exceptionally striking foliage. The leaf-peepers revel in the sight of the trees brazenly changing their attire from summer green to elegant burnt orange with tints of yellow and brown. Note, however, that the master artist does not stop there! On his canvas – above the autumn leaves – is a heart-breaking blue sky with cotton-candy clouds floating from stage left to stage right. I feel the past, the present, and the future all at once – the past was the delightful summer that is slowly, gracefully, making its way off stage to be replaced by autumn’s delights that prepare the way for the wonders of winter – especially the sights and sounds of Christmas. All is good – it is good to be me.
