CHAPTER 5 - GIFTS AND THE ANOINTING Proverbs 18:16 says: “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” In Ephesians 4:7, 8, the Word says: “but unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith when He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.” In the last chapter, I wrote about the difference between permissive will and God’s perfect will. Just as there is a vast difference between the two, this difference also holds true with the gifts and anointing. We as believers, especially those who have walked in the anointing, know that the gift is free, but the anointing costs. The price of the anointing can’t be bought or sold, can’t be earned, and, if imitated, won’t duplicate the works of Christ. One of the greatest mistakes we, as believers, are guilty of is not knowing the difference between the gifted and the anointed. We have a tendency to believe just because a person can sing, direct a choir, teach or preach, that individual is anointed. The Word of God tells us and shows us that the gift speaks but the anointing is the power of God on and in our lives. Paul wrote in Romans 1:16: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.” In 1 Corinthians 4:20, Paul penned: “For the Kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.” Paul also said in 1 Corinthians 2: 4, 5: “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” The difference between Christianity and any other religion is the Gospel of Christ is backed and supported by a release of power. King David knew the importance of the anointing of God on his life and feared to live without it. In Psalms 51:11, David said: “Cast me not away from thy presence and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.” David understood and knew he was gifted for war but it was the anointing of God that gave him the victory over the bear, lion, Goliath, and all enemies. David trusted in his gift but his faith to rule and reign was in the anointing of God on his life. In the book of Judges, the Bible gives us illustrations of the importance of the anointing on our lives. We must understand that the anointing adds the power to our lives, which allows us to operate in the supernatural, which is actually natural in the lives of believers. I firmly believe that it’s not natural for a church or believers not to operate in the supernatural. We as believers are astonished, surprised, and at times awe struck when we see the power of God. I wonder do we really believe what the Master said when He stated in Mark 16: 17, 18: “And these signs shall follow them that believe. In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they should take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” I don’t claim or pretend to know everything about the anointing nor do I stand in judgment when it comes to the ministers of Christ. In my life I have come across many ministers who say Christ didn’t call me to lay hands, cast out devils, or speak in tongues. I’ll let the Word of God answer that because the word of God says: “By our words we are justified and by our words we are condemned.” The Bible also says: “Let God be true but every man a liar,” and, “having a form of Godliness, but denying the power thereof, from such turn away.” When I hear ministers make the statement of what they weren’t called to do, I wonder if they were called at all. When you meet ministers or believers who have this mind set, this is where you’ll find the gift, but not the anointing. This is where you can be entertained, but the power of God isn’t present. You’ll also find that they will try to explain away the gifts of the Spirit and the Power of God as though it died with the last Apostle. The anointing of God is a must in the lives of believers who want to be used by God. Judges 3:10 says: “And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him and he judged Israel and went out to war,” in reference to Othniel, Caleb’s younger brother. In Judges 6:34, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon, the same for Jepheth in 11:29 and for Samson in 14:6. However, it said the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him.” I firmly believe that the greater the task, the greater the anointing, but it’s reserved for those who truly understand what it takes to do the work of God.

You’ll be taken on a fascinating and exciting journey in your inner most being where you’ll locate hidden treasures and gifts, God has deposited inside of you like fireworks ready to explode and reveal the greatness inside of you. This book is filled with the Word of God, and will renew you in the spirit of your mind. You’ll begin to look at problems as preparation, trouble, as training and transition, and if one is a doer of the Word and not a hearer only it will transform one into the more than conqueror and overcomer God has created us to be in Jesus Christ! May your testimony inspire readers to know the testimony of Jesus Christ: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Blessed is he that reads, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. As you prophesy before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings: may this book be like the little book of Revelation 10 when eaten makes the belly bitter, but it shall be in your mouth sweet as honey. The voice of transparency, where he or she can relate to themselves. This author's boldness who speaks candid not only of victories, but failures, an setbacks, many think disqualify them but to the contrary, qualifies them for their purpose in life. One will hear the voice of one who knows it matters very little how others see you that determines your future, it's how you see yourself. One who wants he or she to understand we must come from behind masks we wear in our quest for acceptance and love. One whose purpose is to point one to where he or she can be accepted and remove their mask and find their true self and that's in the Beloved, Jesus Christ. Where he or she will discover the love of God in an intimate way that only God can present Himself. Inside of the book the reader will comprehend the power of personal choice, and he or she will understand like the author whose eyes have been open to the truth of we're asinine, and frivolous to point fingers at others for our lack of success. One will face as they read this book a very pertinent question he or she must ask themselves. Which is, how and why would he or she believe they'll ever be happy with inner peace if their living a life of deception not knowing who they were created to be? This book will allow one to see they were created to win, over come obstacles, test, adversities, and trials, and emerge victorious. The reader will hear loud and clear the voice of an encourager whose purpose in life is to point he or she to the one where the impossible becomes possible and that's to God the Father, and His Holy Son, Jesus Christ!
