About the Book

This is the story of Duke, a greyhound who visits the beach for the first time. He is not comfortable in the sand, is unhappy with the cold, salty water, and afraid of the waves. He becomes an unlikely hero when he saves a child who has fallen overboard into the ocean. By his act of heroism he overcomes his fears and learns to love the ocean. An additional bonus is that he learns to swim and makes some new friends. Readers will learn a lot about how special a greyhound can be.

About the Author

I am an ex-school teacher, a mother and grandmother who believes in the magic of books. I also believe that books can help a child get over certain fears and face life with a more positive attitude and better sense of self worth. I live in Northern California with my greyhound Duke and my special needs Doberman, Lottie. These two have taught me how important it is to face your fears to move forward in life.
