Chapter 4: The Giant and New River
Here is another tale of two young princes, __________ & __________,
who lived long, long ago in a far, far away land. The two princes had two friends that were actually two huge big black stallions. The princes didn’t ride the stallions on their backs because they were friends; instead used chariots that looked like pick-up trucks, but pick-up trucks didn’t exist back then.
One day, the two princes received word that a not-so-far away town was in trouble; their water supply was running out for drinking and irrigation to the farms. The princes didn’t know what they could do to help, but figured they’d at least try.
So the boys rode off to the town not so far away with their two friends, the two huge big black stallions, in their chariots that looked like pick-up trucks; but as we know, pick-up trucks didn’t exist back then.
As they arrived, the mayor spoke with them and said that their lake is running dry. The townsfolk didn’t know what to do; they needed it for drinking and to help grow the crops. The boys looked at each other and then back at the mayor; they told him that they would see how they could help.
So the princes rode to where the lake was and tried to see what was causing the lake to dry up. Before too long, they heard huge footsteps walking through the woods and trees rustling with a ruckus.
The princes were nervous, but they waited to see what was making the noise. To their surprise they saw an immense giant come to the lake and drank from it. With each scoop of the water, they saw that the lake level getting lower and lower. They then knew what was causing the lake to go dry.
The two princes slowly approached the giant and introduced themselves. The giant responded with a bolstering “Heee-loooo, I am Ti-nee”. The two princes then told the giant of the problem that the town was having and asked if he could help.
Ti-nee, didn’t know what he could do, but said “Ooo-keeyy”. Just then, the princes noticed a small waterfall in a nearby hill; they asked Ti-nee if he could make the water run from the waterfall to the lake. They showed him how to make a trench from the hillside to the lake; and he did. Quickly the giant and the princes saw the lake slowly filling back up.
Now that the deed was done, the boys went back to the town and spoke to the mayor. They explained that the giant, Ti-nee, was passing through and drinking their water. Instead of making him move on, he helped out the town in making a river to replenish the lake.
The mayor was happy as well as the townsfolk. They even changed the name of their town to New River. Once again, all was good in the kingdom.
