A study of leadership based on author’s own experiences, lectures, and workshops and built upon interactions with naval commanders and corporate sector managers. It is a fine blend of theory and practice. which helps leaders in commanding love, respect, and loyalty of their people.

About the Author

Commander (Retd) Iftikhar Ahmed is an ex-Pakistan Navy officer who has served in operations branch for twentytwo years. During his service in the navy, he earned various professional qualifications, both from within and outside Pakistan. He holds an MBA degree in human resource management from Preston University, Karachi; master’s degree in strategic studies; and bachelor’s degree (Hons) in naval sciences from Karachi University. During his career in the navy, he served in operations, staff, and training assignments, which provided him a rich experience of dealing with people. This experience and his appointment in Navy’s Human Resource Development Center provided him a deeper insight into human issues like leadership and motivation. During his stay in HR Development Center, he designed and conducted courses on leadership skills for officers and conducted one-day workshops on soft skills, like leadership, followership, teamwork, motivation, change management, and time management. He delivered lectures on leadership to officers undergoing command/executive officer courses for surface ships, submarines, and naval aviation and in some institutions of the Pakistan Navy. He has also visited some corporate sector organizations as guest speaker to talk on the topic of leadership. His first book, “Motivation – The Right Direction” has been published in January 2012 by Ferozsons Publishers, Karachi, Pakistan.
