A few years ago, in a “respectable” US magazine, I saw this cartoon; the cartoon depicted a black girl about to kiss a white boy. Now as the girl was about to give a “passionate” kiss – as one could tell by the facial expression of this girl on the caricature – to the boy, the boy spat on the girl’s face. Now the message clearly intended for the viewer to deduct was: On spitting on the black girl’s face the white boy was kissing her instead that way. In other words the message intended for the viewer to read in the drawing was: A black girl comes to love a white boy and since she is not worth more than a spit out of the mouth of the white boy she gets exactly what she deserves. In those slavery days in America, at times when a white man saw a pregnant black woman the white lord would grab his rifle, aim at the pregnant black woman’s swollen belly and shoot a round on it. The white lord would then say with amusement “I wanted to know what she had in her swollen belly”. I wonder if nature was in favor of that!
