About the Book

Have you ever been in a new place, and it seems like you’ve been there before? In grade school, I had this eerie feeling so many times that I took notice after a while. I stared at the scenery, waiting for an extraordinary experience to happen. I realize now that I was too young then to understand the connection, but at that time, I was being led into a déjà vu visit. Perhaps I once lived before this lifetime. Powerful isn’t it? Maybe I am the reincarnated soul of my biological ancestry or of Jarena Lee (Lee, The Life and Religious Experience of Jarena Lee), one of the first African-American women to pen an autobiography (Lee, Biography of Jarena Lee). Nevertheless, I am who I am because there is no other person who is just like me. Who I was before is not as important as who I have become—a supporter of the beacon of light which shines brightly inside of me.

About the Author

Doreen Heath was born in South Carolina’s oldest inland city, Camden, home of the Carolina and Colonial Cup races. She is proud of this quaint town where everyone knows one another by family name. Here, character training begins at home, and is reinforced in the churches, communities, and schools. In spirit, Doreen’s name means the “gift of God.” She retired early but has not slowed down. She is an educator but is excited about being a small business owner and doing volunteer work for organizations, programs, and summer camps. She surrounds herself with family and friends and enjoys outdoor walking activities as well as traveling, reading, writing, and baking. This book is written with much appreciation for the kindness and affection of so many people who influenced her life in a more positive way.
