About the Author

Every effort has been made to correct errors that may have been made during preparation of Virginia’s first edition of poetry, and to convey an expression which reflects the relaxed person that she is, by allowing her thoughts to run wild. Writing poetry, lyrics and music are Virginia’s lifelong hobbies. Bear with her, as she attempts to say what she means, thinks, sees or hears, that will satisfy the mental process of prospective readers. Hopefully the readers of this book will not be surprised if they find it a little different from other poetic books with which they are familiar. Virginia would like each reader to enjoy reading every word, as much as she has enjoyed writing them. Virginia is not a well known writer, but certainly not an unknown. She was fortunate to copyright and publish many gospel songs which are registered with the Library of Congress and the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP). She was honored to have written songs for the Grammy and Dove Awards winning Gospel Singer Pastor Shirley Caesar. Virginia also wrote many of the songs on her CD (Unto You), recorded by Savoy Records under Executive Producer Rev. Milton Biggham. When asked for three characteristics of Mrs. Dunbar during an honoring program, her best friends described her as “kind, caring and giving”. This characterization is suitable for the thoughtful and charming woman who retired after 29 years of Federal Service from the Department of Defense Accounting and Budgeting Office, but continued her career in singing, writing music and poetry. Her accomplishments in music are noteworthy. She performed on more than five tours with the USO and the Armed Forces Professional Entertainment Office. Virginia’s writing ability is a gift, and she’s inspired to use it to the fullest.
