On her birthday, Bryana bounced out of bed. “Today I can do big things!” she said. In the Bantu Forest, fairies could only grant wishes on their birthdays. “This year,” said Bryana, “I’ll grant the biggest birthday wish anyone has ever seen!” Bryana was searching for a big birthday wish when she saw a black rock bouncing about on the ground. Bounce! Bounce! “Oh no! Oh no!” said the rock. Bounce! Bounce! Bryana picked up the rock. “You sound upset,” she said. “Do you need a birthday wish?“Please!” said the rock. “I’m trapped. I wish this rock would break and let me out.” Well, thought Bryana, the rock wasn’t very big. But the rock sounded so unhappy, and it was still a birthday wish. Bryana waved her magic wand…B-E-L-I-E-V-E. A tiny crack opened in the rock. A bit of bright color shone out. Bryana frowned. “Do you believe little rock?”, Bryana asked. The rock replied, “I believe!” She waved her wand again and said, “Believe. Bigger!”

About the Author
Melanee Banks is an author, poet and artist on a mission to generate love and miracles through inspiration and creativity. She began writing poetry at an early age but then later found a passion for writing children's literature after having a difficult time finding inspirational, educational and beautifully illustrated books for her own children. She is currently working on a series of books that will ignite a new consciousness and realization of true self, personal potential and spiritual connection. Melanee is a Landmark Education graduate and former Self-Expression and Leadership Program (SELP) Coach.
