Life seldom seems fair. It seems that treachery is rewarded with wealth and power. Mercy, kindness and selflessness are often perceived as weakness. Many among us react to these virtues in much the same way as a shark reacts to blood in the water.
It is sometimes difficult not to think of life as a cruel practical joke that The Universe plays upon us. All-too-often evil men are fleet-of-foot. They rush to their goals with the speed and agility of a jungle cat closing in on its helpless prey.
All-too-often, the best among us are lame. They seem to be star-crossed victims of Fate, limping through life with too much blind ambition to realize that the journey that lies before them is impossible to traverse. Such men are akin to the bumblebee, which according to lore has no appetite for the bitter rules of aerodynamics and just flies because it really wants to… Bruce Lee said, “Make no limitation your limitation.” We are not defined by that which people tell us that we cannot do. We are defined by that which we attain despite all obstacles and despite the nay saying of our detractors and our critics. “Our fault is not in our stars… but in ourselves” in that we use Fate as an excuse to give up before we really even begin. We become the underlings of circumstance… It is my most fervent prayer that my story will inspire you to understand the supernatural power of Love and concern for your fellow human beings. If God gave me my physical infirmities to make me understand this, then it is a precious gift and I thank God for it. Take it from me, you can endure any physical handicap, but for the Love of God, don’t allow yourself to go through life spiritually handicapped. Indifference is the disease. Love is the cure. Loving people is not always easy. It always brings pain, but it is the only thing that can save you. It is the only thing that can save the world.

About the Author
Mark Edward Cody is a philosopher, a theologian and an expert on comparative religion and mythology. He began training in the Martial Arts in 1981. In 2005 Cody was inducted into the World Union of Sokes, Masters and Grand Masters as a Master Martial Arts Instructor and was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Martial Arts Philosophy. He is the author of four previous books. He is the founder of The Bushido Institute for the Advancement of Martial Arts and Sciences.
L. D. “Stoney” Stone is a Philanthropist, a martial arts Master and an internationally acclaimed motivational speaker. He has been a movie stunt coordinator, lead vocalist in a classic rock band, and a Life and Success Coach. As a child, he was told that his physical limitations would make it unlikely that he would be able to walk past his fortieth year. He was told that it would be impossible for someone with his handicaps to study the martial arts. Despite his physical limitations, he has lived a life of achievement and service to others.
