About the Author
Nat Quansah has been working in various cross-cultural contexts researching, advising and lecturing on a wide range of health and environmental issues. He was awarded the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize in 2000 for his work in local capacity reinforcement, integrated healthcare, biological and cultural diversity conservation and sustainable resource use. A Botanist by training and an ethnobotanist by profession, Dr. Quansah has a Ph.D. in Pteridology from the University of London Goldsmiths’ College and a MSc. in Botany, a BSc. Honors as well as a Diploma of Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He currently serves as Academic Director of SIT Study Abroad’s Summer Program on Madagascar: Traditional Medicine and Health Care System, a Program of World Learning. Patricia Randrianavony is a Pharmacologist and an Aesthetician. A recipient of the Prince Bernhard Scholarship for Nature Conservation in 1993, she undertakes field and laboratory researches focussed on the uses of biodiversity for health care. She has a Doctorate degree in Pharmacology from the University of Antananarivo, Madagascar and a Professional Certificate in Aesthetics from the JORA Institute, Antananarivo, Madagascar. Dr Randrianavony is a lecturer and researcher in Pharmacology and Cosmetology at the University of Antananarivo, Madagascar.
