What would it be like to teach with no running water, no electricity, or indoor restrooms? What if you had to walk three or four miles to and from work? Not only have schools changed, but the expectations of the people who teach have also changed dramatically. As a female how would you like to board in a home and not be considered a lady if you were seen with a man after dark? About the Author
Garnett Reed Boggs has spent her life teaching children from grades one through grades eight. Her experience in teaching spans fifty years. She received her two year teahcing certificate from Glenville State College in Glenville, WVA. Later she went back to Glenville and received her BA, graduating Magma Cum Laude. Later after moving to Florida she went to the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, and received her Master's degree. At this time she became a member of the Phi Beta Phi honorary society. Highlights Magazine for Children has published one of Mrs. Boggs' short stories. Mrs. Boggs' children's book Totally Katy has also been published. Her Memoirs, Fifty Years in the Classroom, is based on her unique experiences teaching over a period of half a decade. Mrs. Boggs is retired and living in Winter Haven, Florida, where she continues to enjoy writing.
