Marc sat upright in bed, shaken & wiped sweat from his face. His breathing, harsh and raspy, awakened his light-sleeping fiancee, Sierra. "You are burning up, man!" she cried. "I should call Graciela right away!" Marc shook his head, caressed her thigh, and replied, "That will be unnecessary. It's just another stupid dream." She protested, "You've been having them more often, ever since Peaches was attacked in that damned cemetery!" Still perspiring, Marc kissed her lightly. "Not to worry, my sweet," he replied, "I assure you I am fine. Our wedding invitations have been sent, Roberto has cleared his schedule to perform our ceremony, & Angie is catering our reception! Best of all, Troy is decorating, & Tim's band will be here on the 30th!" Sierra flopped back onto her pillow, sighed, "I give up! You are simply too much!" The dark, sinewy figure loomed over the comatose Peaches. Graciela awoke from the voluptuous Peaches' bedside, screaming horrifically! She struggled with the assailant, grabbed a water pitcher from Peaches' dinner cart, and struck him solidly on his jaw. He howled in pain, stumbled back several steps, near the window. Graciela charged with the cart, and pushed him through it, shattering glass onto the parking lot! Carlos and Julio patrolled downtown Robusto, heard Graciela's cries for help. Veering onto the clinic's parking lot, they spotted Graciela in the window. "He ran through the alley," Graciela screeched, "in the direction of that nasty strip club!" Julio ran in search of her attacker. ****

AUTUMN NIGHTMARE is the 3rd in the series of Nightmares, chronicles the adventures of a group of friends who emigrate to the city of Robusto after escaping the tyranny of an evil dictator in their homeland. Roberto, upon being appointed the new mayor of Robusto, is besieged by a corrupt police department which cannot apprehend a ruthless serial killer. His friend Cecilio is thrust into the limelight as the new chief, & Marc, a retired intelligence officer, has offered to be the department's consultant. The killer has targeted exotic dancers employed at the local gentleman's club! Definitely a "must read" for a specific adult audience! Especially if those who've read the previous two "NIGHTMARES" want to learn the identity of the vicious serial killer!

Mark Maronde has been writing since 1979. He prefers to write mysteries, as well as horror fiction. AUTUMN NIGHTMARE concludes the series of Nightmares. His readers have come to expect specific adult themes. In his spare time, Mark enjoys being Dixon, Illinois' only Ringo Starr impersonator.
