Grandma said, “Wendy, you seem to know quite a bit about Jesus. Why did you say that you didn’t know Him?” “I don’t know Him; I just know about Him.” “When a new girl comes to school and you want to get to know her, what do you do?” “I talk to her and try to find out more about her.” “Well, that would also be a good way to get to know Jesus. You can talk to Him through prayer. You can tell Him about how you feel, what makes you happy and what makes you feel sad. He actually already knows all of this, but He likes for you to talk to Him and tell Him these things. The more you pray and share your feelings with Jesus, the more you will get to know Him. You will begin to feel His love for you when He answers your prayers, and the more you talk to Him, the more you will feel His presence.”

About the Book
This book was written to explain to my granddaughter why we should be baptized and to then, as a member of the family of God, live a Christian life. It is my hope that this will not only help my young readers understand that God loves us, but that He has given us directions on what we should do and how we should live in order to receive eternal life. I also hope that it might provide a teaching tool for Christian teachers and leaders of young people. For those of you who have enjoyed reading books in the “Jessy Learns” series, this book is a spin-off of that series, and I hope you will enjoy it as well.
About the Author
Mary Lou Hawkins and her husband Russ live on a farm in central Indiana, in the same area where she grew up. She has enjoyed writing her entire lifetime, but only in the last few years, after retiring from a career spent as a legal secretary and court reporter, and also after raising two daughters, and welcoming eight grandchildren into the world, has she started publishing. This is her fifth book. She finds it gratifying, while doing something she so thoroughly enjoys, to in this way share her faith with others, especially young people.
