The ice monster lunged itself at its prey, but before it could swipe its arm across at them, Merlick and Chitso leaped into the air and over the ice monster. Chitso landed on one knee, still struggling to get over himself, while Merlick danced with both swords in the air, slashing them down onto the creature's spiky back, but he left no penetration of any sort. The creature did cry out in anger at the blades, pulling its arm around to swipe Merlick. Merlick was about to dodge, but Chitso was still having difficulty getting back up. Merlick instead was holding both his swords in front of him in an X shape. The ice monster's arm crashed against Merlick's swords, it just about broke Merlick's guard, but he still managed to concentrate his chi to assist him.
“Chitso, a little help would be appreciated.” Merlick was struggling.
Chitso turned his body around and placed his hand flat against the cold creature's waist.
“Mizu-Bakafuu!” announced Chitso.
Suddenly a simple splash hit the creature. The creature looked down at Chitso, while Chitso looked down confused at his palm.
“No, no, I wanted a water blast, not a water bubble,” complained Chitso.
“Chitso, I need help now,” begged Merlick.
But the ice monster had already managed to break Merlick's guard and fling him backwards flying over five wagons and crashing through the sixth wagon's roof and into it. Chitso was still struggling to get a grip on himself. He was kneed right in the chin by the ice creature, forcing him to jump into the air like a spinning puppet. Chitso slammed back down onto the wagon near the ice monster, flopping helplessly. When Chitso was no longer flopping about, he placed his hand against his mouth and chin in terrible pain, trying to control his crying yell.
The ice creature moved forward to finish Chitso, but out of the wagon where Merlick had crashed came a shout of “Senbagki!” and bursting from the wagon came a spinning tornado with wild cutting swords. The ice creature turned its attention to the tornado. The tornado quickly threw itself at the ice monster with its swords cutting through the air. The ice monster quickly brought up its arm and began trying to parry the blades with its own arms. It kept at it as each blade swung around and then another swung at it continuously. The ice monster kept at this, trying to walk back to get some room, but the tornado also kept at it until they were both at the last wagon's edge. The tornado finally began to slow down until it turned back into Merlick. The ice monster brought its guard down slightly to see a cheeky grin on Merlick's face. The ice creature looked at its arms and saw they were covered with deep scratches.
“Looks like your ice skin is not all that invincible,” sneered Merlick.
The ice monster gave out an angry cry and lifted one of its arms, turning it into a giant hammer. Merlick knew he done it. Merlick quickly jumped back before the creature's arm leaving it to smash down onto the wagon roof, causing half the wagon to explode while Merlick landed on the second wagon. The ice monster lifted its head up to see Merlick standing staring back at it. The ice monster sprang up over to Merlick, and Merlick jumped back at the ice monster. They met each other in mid-air.
“Tsurgi-su-pa-futan!” screamed Merlick, letting his swords turn into a purple glow.
Merlick crashed his swords onto the creature's hammer. When the two weapons touched, it unleashed a huge force of chi that erupted all around them, causing the wagons to shoot out splinters and the lizards carrying the wagons to become restless. Merlick was thrown back. His back crashed back down onto the carts, and he slid backwards until he came up to next to Chitso, who was getting back up.
Chitso brought down his cupped hands to his own blood. He could see this ice monster would prove hard to beat. He decided to end this, standing straight and forming his hands into a triangle shape “Daichi!” But before he could form the next shape, he could feel Merlick's sword butt banging the back of his head.
“You idiot, be more careful!” warned Merlick.
“What? I knew what I was doing,” groaned Chitso, rubbing his head
“Ugh, I was hoping you would remember the big reason why hardly anyone can learn a life element move. If you make one slight mistake such as a finger shiver or if you change what you're thinking about for just a second, you snap your own soul being transferred inside and cause your body to shut down like a helpless puppet,” explained Merlick. “And you have to be very focused not to make a mistake, and right now you are not focused!”
Merlick had made Chitso realise how stupid he just was to forget one of the most important rules of the “soul shredder” that he had sworn to remember and not be careless about.
But his thoughts were interrupted as the ice monster appeared before them without making a sound even with all that weight. Chitso was still in emotional pain and thinking about what he had done. The ice monster lunged its arm out at Chitso, thrusting its fist into Chitso's gut and lifting him into the air. Chitso had coughed out more blood from his mouth. It poured over the ice monster's shoulder and slid down, leaving the shoulder stainless and the creature laughing.
“Chitso!” cried Merlick.
