The Journal

I walked into my bedroom and found the journal where I had left it that morning. I woundered if what was happening right now was a new chapter of my story with her. I wondered if this part required a blank page and if there would be more to write after this.

I thought of my past with her as I flipped through the pages. My mistakes jumped off the pages, but then again, the things that I had done right did as well. There had to be a balance there. There had to be an opportunity for me to better it this time around. There had to be the opportunity for me to win her this time, to make her mine, for now, forever. Her fate and mine were intertwined, we were linked, time, distance, whatever, it wasn't meant to keep us apart. I could feel it.

Finally, I flipped to the back pages of the notebook in which I had written. They were blank. Just like tomorrow, next week, next year. The future was unwritten and I could do something about it.

I smiled to myself and walked to the desk in my living room. I sat down gingerly and grabbed a pen.

Looking back at the blank page, I began to write.

It was amazing. The moment my pen touched the paper, the words flowed effortlessly. I didn't even have to think about it. Over the next few days, it seemed as if my entire history with Kara had been stored in that pen and the only thing that I needed to do was unite it with a blank piece of paper in order for the story to be told.
