Miracles of Love

"Do we know who rang us."

"No sir but someone was shot near the bank he may know something."

"Right get a constable to stay at the hospital till he comes round and keep me informed on his condition."

"Right sir."

"If we ever find the man that rang us sergeant I would like to put him up for a 'Bravery Award'."

Meanwhile at the hospital, Dean's in a bad way, he's in a coma, the constable says to the nurse, "Did he have any identification on him nurse?"

"Yes his name is Dean Paxton constable and he keeps shouting out the name Emma."

"Thank you."

He gets on his radio to report to his sergeant, "The mans in a coma and they can't give him a time if any that he will pull out of it, his name is Dean Paxton, serge, that's all they know at the moment."

"OK constable you stay there and let me know if you find out more, see if he had a mobile on him, that'll give us contacts, he must have relatives or a wife."

"Oh serge. The nurse said he keeps calling out for Emma."

"OK see if you can find out more about this Emma, if he's calling for her he must have something on him to give us some idea who she is. A photo, or phone number on his mobile if he has one."

The constable goes back into the room and says to the nurse.

"You didn't happen to find a mobile on him did you?"

"I don't know I'll find out for you constable."

She came back a few minutes later.

"Yes he did have a mobile."

And hands it to the constable.

"That's great nurse maybe we can find out more about him now."

As the constable is checking for numbers on Dean's phone, Dean shouts out for Emma! He made the constable jump out of his skin.

"Maybe that's his wife? I'll look for Emma on his phone."

"Maybe! Constable, but he doesn't have a ring on his finger though."

"I better get on to my serge and let him know we have his mobile."

He steps out of the room an gets on his radio.

"Hey serge we have his mobile and there's an Emma on it, he keeps calling for her shall I call the number!"

"No I'll come and get it and ring her myself!"

The sergeant gets to the hospital and asks the constable.

"Where's the mobile constable?."

"Oh hi serge, it's in the room I'll get it for you."

They both walk into the room, Dean shouts out Emma's name again and makes the sergeant jump.

"You get use to that serge." and hands him the mobile.

"Right carry on constable I'll give Emma a ring."

"Hello! Emma speaking."

"Hello this is sergeant West from the 'Elm lane' police station, your numbers on Dean Paxton's mobile we were wondering if you were his wife as he's in Hospital from a shooting."

Emma's legs gave way, she fell to the floor with shock.

"Are you alright! Are you alright Emma?"

Emma's on the floor, sitting there in shock her hands shaking tears rolling down her cheeks, she starts to cry thinking the worst has happened, she had dropped the phone when the sergeant told her the news.

She starts looking for the phone, picks it up and can hear the sergeant shouting.

"Are you alright Emma?"

She pulls herself together and says.

"Yes I'm alright you gave me a shock though. How is he! Is he alright?"

"We can't say Emma, all we know is he's in a coma and keeps calling your name."

Emma started to cry and blurted out, "What hospital is he in, I must see him!"

"It's the 'Elms lane' hospital EC2, I can pick you up if you like!"

"No that's alright, I must go now."

She started to cry. she's sobbing her heart out as she's running out to the car, she drives away hastily and nearly has an accident, she stops the car to regain her posture and remembers what Dean said.

"Drive carefully I'd rather you be late even if it's an hour."

She pulls herself together wipes her eyes and heads of for the hospital, driving a lot slower and careful.

Then she remembers the children were at school and had to be picked up. She pulls over and rings a friend to ask her if she would pick them up.

"Of cause I will, anything wrong Emma you sound frightened."

"No!"

She has to tell a little white lie.

Something came up at work and I'll be working a couple more hours, would you look after them till I get there."

"Of cause I will don't worry about a thing Emma."

"Thank you so much, I'll see you later then."

As she's driving she's remembering what sergeant West said, Dean's in a coma, she starts to think will he remember me when he comes out of the coma, she has to pull over because she's crying so much she can't see through the tears, she sits in her car sobbing her heart out, after a while, she wipes her eyes checks her make-up in the mirror and heads for the hospital and arrives safely.

She rushes in and asks for, "Dean Paxton he was in a shooting accident, I'm Emma." She said despondently.

"Ah yes room 10 down the corridor on the right."

Said the nurse.

Emma rushes down the corridor and burst in the room.

"I'm Emma how is he? Is he alright?" As she's walking over to him, takes one look at him all bandaged up, the whole works, she just burst out crying, she gently puts her arms around him, kisses his brow and whispers,

"It's Emma darling please don't die, I love you so much, my darling; I know what you're doing darling! Your relaxing and thinking of me like we said."

Whispering it desperately in his ear.

Still hugging him she kisses him on the lips with all the love and emotion she could muster up.

Sergeant West walks in, and has a word with his constable.

"Hi I'm sergeant West you must be Emma could I have a word with you in the corridor please."
