God’s Law Or Man’s Law?

Whose Law?
Almost 2 billion people profess to be Christians, whilst they have differences in doctrine, they generally share similar beliefs. The truth is, most never truly study the Bible, many others never even open it. Most professing Christians have no idea what it teaches – on almost any subject. Their beliefs are derived from assumptions based on what they have been told the Bible says. They can readily give their definition of what the Bible says, but cannot give the actual Bible definition.
This personal study was one where I thought there would be a simple answer, but ended up challenging me so much that I knew it should be brought to the attention of all believers in Jesus Christ. Really we do need to compare scripture the way God intended, and then seeing how we have been hoodwinked by “the lie”.
The study was Matthew 51:17-19.
Jesus said
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be least in the Kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the Kingdom of heaven.”

So what Law has been abolished and forgotten, or even been replaced by man made laws or practices? Remember that Jesus was so precise in his statement
“Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be least in the Kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the Kingdom of heaven.”
In fact he also said,
“not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”
This then got me thinking “What is Christianity?” “What is Judaism?” “What is Messianic Jews?”
You may answer this quite simply “Christianity is people believing in Jesus the Saviour.”
“Judaism is people believing in God the creator, the Torah and the Messiah who is yet to come.”
“Messianic Jew are people who are Jewish but believe in Jesus the Messiah.”
But is it as cut and dried as that, or are we as Christians throwing the baby out with the bath water if we simply believe the above?
We must start by asking firstly ourselves and then others, what it is all about?
Questions like “Did God actually begin a religion (which the Israelites followed)?”
The answer is a positive NO!
During the time from Moses to King Saul, the Israelites lived under a theocracy (which means that God directly governed them,) with no human mediator between God and his people. Under Moses, the Israelites were one people, sub divided into 12 tribes according to their fathers house. As I already stated they lived under a theocracy, a real theocracy. There was no centralised earthy authority, no central high church

Judeo – Christianity heritage is so important to understand, but unfortunately very few Christians have had the courage or encouragement to familiarise themselves with this heritage.
The roots of Christianity run so deep into the Hebrew soil, but the actual study of the Hebrew world has been so superficial and also deemed irrelevant.
Have we been guilty of allowing Man’s Law replacing God’s Law.
Christians should re – examine their Jewish roots so as to affect a more authentic Biblical understanding and lifestyle.
