Sadie Mae went into the parlor where Jake was waiting for her. "Okay Jake now I'm ready to listen."
Jake paused, "Sadie, you and I have been friends for several years. As you probably have guessed my dry goods store is doing very well right now and I am turning a nice profit. I am considering building a hotel and cafe next to my store. With the extra addition I will need some help."
Jake sat still for a monent and wondered how to procede. "What I want to do is take a wife."
Sadie jumped up from her chair, "Oh Jake" she squealed "That is the biggest news I've heard in a long time."
Jake rose from the leather chair in which he had been seated.
"Now just settle down and let me finish." He took a deep breath.. He looked Sadie directly in the eyes and said, "Sadie I want you to be my wife."
In a blink of an eye Sadie gasped and slapped Jake. "How dare you!" she exclaimed.

About the Book
The author wanted her main charactor to be a strong independent woman. She has a job and supports herself. She enjoys living at home with her father, mother and younger sister. She is happy with her life just as it is. If she were to get married everything would change for Sadie Mae. One day out of the blue she finds out she is engaged to a man she has known for several years.
About the Author
She was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. In her senior year of high school she moved with her family to the state of Michigan.
She attended Michigan State University. Where she studied history.
She has experienced many people and their cultures in her travels. She now lives in the deep South.
