I WANT TO BE
Someday I want to be a poet
With all my words I want to evoke emotions that start a movement
To be the clarity in the storm of life
I want to be able to write what everybody thinks
But no one says
I want to write the poem everyone claims as theirs
I want to write the poem that a mother gives her daughter
When she falls in love
To write the poem that English students study
To give their insight on what the poet was really referring to
That poet being me
I want to make everyone reading Braille see
To be able to describe dew in its hue of blue resting on a blade
Of green grass it's task as the wind blows past
I want to write that poem that gets inside your soul
That's tells your hardships even the ones you never told
The one Hallmark wants but can't buy
You know, the one that even makes grown men cry
The one all women have as their anthem
The poem that all other poets are sampling
But leave out because its copyrighted
That poem that is memorized
Then spoken when everything else is forgotten
The poem that is read by young men who later become old men
To recite it to their grandchildren
The poem which makes you ask what's wrong with this world
Then turn your life around to change the world
The poem that makes you look for the truth
In the gums and tooth
Of the that poet
Who is me
To write that poem that tells you
You will never be satisfied
Until then these words will tide you over
The poem that your love one request to be read when they pass
The one you wish you wrote so you wouldn't have to worry about cash
The one so you could retire at last
The poem that surpasses all poems
The poem that a poet wrote
Who is me
The poem that holds the key to what can be
The poem that lends a hand to the words that my mind cannot see
The poem that reminds me of my opportunities
And lets me see I am free
From the pen to the paper
From the poet
Who is me
That poet whose words last longer than the blood flowing though your body
It's meaning speaking truth
Though the mind of each individual in its own way
For some words will stay and others will be forgotten
The poem Still others will live their lives by these words
Truth, life lessons, heartfelt, words
That poem that will live beyond the man who wrote them
That poet being me
