Late Check-In
I will take the 1st available room because my bag is heavy--I'm
not a kid anymore--a 4th floor unit I can't afford but take
because I'm too tired to argue with strangers
and drift off by the window with the coast's foggy mirror smeared with lipstick
and recall a message on-line that said I think of you often.
please believe me I think of you also, and it would be even
better I sd if I knew yr name--
there are those who cannot break with the past and walk at night searching

About the Book
It is said Dante wrote his Commedia as a means to reconcile himself with the death of his beloved Beatrice--years after the fact.
In Fiery Messengers the poet descends to the demi monde in search of his soul in the person of Jacqueline, his mother. The texts that follow are encounters with the muse in various phases, some in memory, others in dream & fantasy, a few as apparitions.
The exchanges between mother & son form the crux of a journey from darkness to flashes of lightning.
In this latest work Peterson asserts the primacy of one poetic vision--that of Homer, Virgil, Dante, Pound & Olson. Let men stumble and go forth.
About the Author
Geoff Peterson was born a year after WW II and conducted his residency with nervous aplomb. He leaves behind two daughters & some books.
