We made it to the Chamber of Commerce building in the exact spot it would have been in Cherry Valley. We were about to walk up the steps when something sparkly caught my eye to the left. I looked over and it was a huge cherry tree on a dead end street all by itself. I left John standing there on the steps, as I walked closer. John didn't stop me and I saw others behind me watching as well.
I made it over to the end of the street, the tree was beautiful. The cherries on the tree looked like they had been polished. They were glossy and big, almost the size of plums. I reached for one and the color of the cherries got brighter. I heard a group of people behind me gasp and people started chanting. I turned around and there were over a dozen people standing there watching me. I got a little nervous but I really wanted to see the cherry tree-trick again. I turned back around to the tree and reached for another cherry and once again the cherries on the tree got brighter. The closer I got to one, the brighter the cherries would get. I turned back around towards John and he was standing right there.
“Erin, why didn't you pick one?”
“I don't know they are too pretty to pick I guess.” His eyes were wide. Then he shook it off and said we must go. I turned back around to get one more look at the tree as we walked away. We made it back to the steps and John walked up first. I heard some mumbles behind me then I turned around. The little square had about a dozen more people standing in the street. I whispered to John.
“Why are they all staring at me?”
“I told you. You're their miracle.”
“But, what did I do so special?”
“No, the question you should be asking is, what am I going to do that's so special?”
