I was expecting to hear some shooting. I sprinted back to the car and was going to jump through the open window but Chuck pulled off and I was left standing alone in the street, with ten guys chasing me with knives. I quickly looked back and all I could see was the sharp glare from the hot August sun reflecting from their knives in my eyes. They were running towards me pointing their steel blades, swiping viciously. I dodged the knives and ran as fast as I could to get away. There was a trash can standing at the corner of the alley and I snatched it and slung it at the guy’s head that was closest to me and kept running. Just then Chuck and Rodney came driving back and were trying to run these guys over. Chuck caught up with me, picked me up, blood was flowing from my body all over his car, and he rushed me to his house which was around the corner from mine. I am very fortunate that I wasn’t killed that day, but the incident may have saved my life.

Journey To Success describes the plight of a young man determined to succeed while growing up on the south side of Chicago. The book describes success by examining and explaining the seriousness of the consequenses of our choices made in our lives. JTS takes you on a walk through the inner city neighborhood and discuses how our relationships, health, sex, spirituality and moral responsibility affect our success.
About the Author
Fred Jefferson Felton is the youngest of 3 children by George W. Felton and Helen K Felton. Fred J. was greatly influenced by his God Parents, Illinois State Senators Fred J. Smith and Senator Margaret Smith as well as his parents and siblings. "FJ" is a bass player / songwriter, novelist and motivational speaker, "FJ" was born on Chicago's south side and has overcome adversity and changed careers several times on his journey to success. FJ is currently a mortgage professional now residing in Plano, Texas and is concentrating on completing a Masters Degree in Sociology at the University Of Texas at Dallas.
