Morning Came Suddenly

With a single rap of the gavel, the auction commenced. I watched from my spot atop the auction block, as one by one each spirit would make their bids. One of them raised a hand and said I am anger, I will pay the highest price for her soul. Another one said, I am depression, I can pay a higher price. A very fierce spirit with sharp teeth, hissed and said, I am addiction, I already practically own her, let me buy her now. One stood up and shouted, I am inconsolable grief, if it wasn't for me we wouldn't even be here, I deserve to possess her. Another very dark spirit uttered in a deep voice, I am despair, it is I who will surely be able to bring her to an untimely end, allow me to win the bid. Then from the back of the room, a very pathetic spirit, it's form hardly anything but a wisp of black smoke, meekly spoke up. It said, I am hopelessness, in the end it will be me who will destroy her. Satan lifted the gavel up, poised to end the auction and say the word, SOLD. Suddenly, from the center of the room, the one dressed in white lifted his head.
