About the Book

If you have ever asked yourself, why can’t I just get over my past? Why do I let people or situations that hurt me control how I live today? Maybe you are an adult or a child who is desperate to live free from a negative past of hurts, failures and self doubt. Living in the Afflictions of your Past explores how soul sicknesses interact and plague future successes. If you have ever imagined your life free from the burdens of family violence, abuse or addiction there is hope for you. Living in the Afflictions of Your Past teach you that God breaks the chains of guilt, shame and condemnation from your life in a way that gives you a 2nd, 3rd or 100th chance to have a new start. There is nothing you have done that God can’t restore. No loss to great or no past to dark where he will not turn the light on and you can breathe again.

About the Author

Tamara Dodson, MFT, Tamara born and raised in Tulare, Ca, a rural agricultural town. Leaving home at 18 she received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology from California State University, Hayward. She had a passion to teach that was not discovered until her 1st semester in graduate school. While presenting a report on the prevalence of homelessness in America and the need for rehabilitation for such persons, the light bulb went on and the passion for teaching was ignited. Since completing the program and receiving a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from California State University Fresno, her quest to find purpose further skill development continued. She then completed a Masters Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from MB Biblical Seminary realizing that the problems with the soul were connected to outward expression of counseling issues. Some 3 years after working as a social worker with children and families in foster care and victims of domestic violence and homelessness in a shelter setting. She realized that the problems that plagued families with generational problems of poverty, violence and abuse were deeper and more vast than the temporary solutions of placement and housing. Knowing that the work that was being done was honorable and impactful, Tamara realized that in order to fulfill her call to change lives for the Kingdom of God was on a broader scale than could have previously been imagined. Writing books to teach people how to help others is a way to live out the greatest command toward discipleship for believers. Teaching someone how to live free from their past hurts is the best humanitarian effort to build people to help other people, in order to keep helping humanity.
