I pick up a concentrated dose of quinidine and shoot it into her IV. I then get another dose of diamorphine and administer it. We all put our hands on her and massage her skin. She is still crashing. I rip off all the leads to the monitors while Victoria unhooks her IV. I scoop her up into my arms and hold her tightly against my chest as I run towards the stairs. I run down the seven flights of stairs and thru the lobby to the outside. It is pouring rain. I sprint through the parking lot, running towards the stream that is at the end of the lawn. I step into the water, gently lay her down into it. She's not breathing! I kneel beside her and put my mouth over hers to breathe my life into her. “This has to work.” I think to myself. “Abby you can't go, you can't leave me again! Please, dear God, we are so close. Don't take her again. I cannot bear it, not again. Please take me instead and let her be."
