Every single one of us in this world suffers in some way or another. It does not matter whether you are rich or poor, young or old, male or female, white, black, Indian, or coloured. We have suffered. Some people seem to experience much greater personal tragedies than others, but we all have painful issues we have to live through. It is part of life in this world.
Suffering can happen in different ways and whether it takes place in the form of abuse (physical or mental), people cheating on us, loved ones dying on us, parents not loving us enough, car accidents or even losing our jobs, it does not really matter in that we are all affected by it at some point or at many points in time during our lives. Suffering is whatever causes us great emotional upheaval and we all have to go through it.
Every structure needs to have a solid foundation. Whether it is a forty-five-story skyscraper or a one-storey house, everything must be built on a strong, stable base. The same is true of our Christian life. Without a strong foundation, our walk with the Lord will be weak, wobbly and unstable. Many of us have tried to build our faith in God without the proper foundation. As a result, our lives have been filled with confusion and frustration.
The obstacles are present sometimes to make us strong vessels that God can use in difficult situations. Life is not a game to play. Life is real and we have but one life to give and one life to live. Let us live our lives with a purpose and set our mark on the high calling of God in Jesus Christ.
Broken homes and broken hearts are not the only reasons for so many social problems. They are also the reason for the incumbent economic difficulties we face as a society. The moral foundation of society erodes as children learn the savage values of the street rather than the civilized values of culture. Government inevitably expands to intervene in family and social crises brought about by the breakdown of the family.
When the foundations are crumbling, the evidence is that of families disintegrating. Children often end up with wounds and scars that persist for life. These days we talk about the drug crisis, the education crisis, and the problem of teen pregnancies and juvenile crime. But all these obstacles come out of one source: “crumbling families."
The institution called “marriage” these days has no value anymore. We must honour and promote strong marriages. Marriages are falling apart and other marriages never begin as sexual partners choose to live together rather than get married. Churches and Christian organizations must teach marriage principles so that marriages will last. Once built on commitment, today's marriages are a contract: “as long as love lasts”. Sound, biblical education is necessary to put marriages back on a firm foundation.
It doesn’t matter what you are going through, you are not alone. No matter how hard the storm, flood, pain, disappointments, frustrations and all sorts of things attack you, no matter how the situation is, you should press on until something happens. Ar

About the Author
Dr. Anniekie Ravhudzulo is presently an Education Consultant in the Directorate: Curriculum and Learning Development at the University of South Africa. She attended and presented papers at national and international conferences. In 2004 she conducted training in learning materials development for Open and Distance Learning at the Women’s University, Harare, Zimbabwe. She distinguished herself at Unisa as one of the three nominees for the 2006 Shoprite Checkers Woman of the year Award and was further awarded the “Inspirational Woman of the Year” award” by Unisa Women’s Forum in 2008. She was also elected and holds the position of Chair Person of the Unisa Women’s Forum in 2009.
She is a powerful preacher of the Word, is an international speaker, counsellor and author of motivational books. She is passionate about research. She is the founding pastor and director of Nothing Lasts Forever Ministries of Hope, an International Organization dedicated to provide the finest biblical teaching tools and training. Dr. Anniekie Ravhudzulo owns Muanza-Zwivhuya Publishing House which is situated in Pretoria, South Africa. She is the author of several bestselling books and has produced related DVD’s, CD’s and Audio Cassettes. She also contributed a chapter entitled “Spiritual Strength in Overcoming Adversity” to the book “Working Women: Stories of Strife, Struggle and Survival”.
She is married to Dr Aaron Ravhudzulo, with her extremely busy schedule, she still finds time to care for her family. She is blessed with four sons, a daughter in-law and two granddaughters. She has overcome pressure, trials, hurt, depression, sickness, tragedies and loss of loved ones.
