Down The Impassable Road

Alex leaned closer when he heard them speaking about a gypsy girl that would arrive shortly. He cocked his head hoping to catch her name. The only gypsy girl he knew was that beautiful Blaze whose family had camped down by the creek on the farm where he had lived. He recalled them stealing his foster parent's chickens, then slipping away in the night.

His heart pounded when she walked like a haughty princess through the front door, hopped on a table and started to dance.

"Yes," he whispered. It was her! His heart fluttered. She was so beautiful.

He remembered how she had kissed him good-by only six weeks ago saying they were going down to Florida for the winter. Why was she still here alone?
