About the Book

For a nyone with a deep respect a nd passion for the written word,

especially for those who share a great fascination for poetry in particular

as poetry tra nscends both imagination a nd interpretation. For it gives a

reader the ability to internalize the poems from his or her perceptive.

We will agree that poetry through the ages has touched the soul of

ma nkind. These trends will continu e as long as poetic writers continu e to

use imagery as they explore paths beyond space a nd time.

In essence, poetry is inspired by numerous huma n conditions a nd

personal experience. Be it from a good or a n ill. . .

Having said that, “F ROM NEAR & BEY OND” was born out of a n

extreme personal tragedy a nd a time of great adversity.

About the Author

GL LaTorre was born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. She and her husband of

Fifty-five years currently reside in a southern city and a warmer climate.

She earned her Associate In arts Degree in 1983. She is an active participant in community activities church ministries and women’s groups.

She is a pro-life advocate for the unborn and the elderly! She both published and edited

Newsletters with regard to the above referenced issues at a northeastern parish and a southern deanery.

She notes, that reading and imagery was greatly influenced and enriched by her sea-faring father with vivid stories told to her as a young child of his travels to the four corners of the globe.

His life at sea originally began with the tall ships and in later years upon freighters.

She has a surviving son and two granddaughters along with three surrogate grandchildren.

Her pragmatism leads her to a belief that past and present of all human experiences is

Intrinsically linked to powers beyond mere human capabilities.

She quantifies this perception that all talent is “God given”, to be used for the

Greater Good…

It is to be said, that she is grateful for this opportunity to have published her first book of

Poetry, (From Near and Beyond).  Which will hopefully bring peace and comfort to people who will internalize the words to meet their own life experiences.
