About the Book

Red Raspberries in October is an accumulation of poems many of which have earned prizes or awards throughout the years or have been published in newspapers, magazines, or chapbooks. As requested by many, I have included poems written years ago about growing up in Pennsylvania before things became busy with highways and industrial parks. The book includes several articles from the well over ten years of writing for a local paper. I hope that my work will inspire others to look at the world with a happy eye and choose those free things in life such as smelling lilacs and or just listening to the world in general.

About the Author

Growing up in the beautiful Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania inspired me to begin writing poetry and stories at an early age. It is something I have enjoyed doing all my life even when we moved away from the mountains to Michigan. Though the years I have had hundreds of poems published, have edited several books, have written or co-chaired writing several books and continue to write a monthly column for a local newspaper. I am a long time member of the Poetry Society of Pennsylvania, the Poetry Society of Michigan, and the Lansing Poetry Club, and have been involved in community government. I also enjoy doing watercolors, hiking, gardening and being a docent at the State of Michigan Historical Museum. After our lovely three children grew up and began their own lives, my husband Art and I moved out to the country where we live in an old farm house with Tobie, our little schnauzer, and Ellie the cat.

I am the author of twenty books of poetry and of "Life With Nicholas," and recently illustrated a children's book for Julie George, a fellow poet.

Through the years I have taken on a light hearted approach to poetry and writing in general, as I feel the world is full enough of serious tragedies and such. I hope I can make people smile, if just for a little while.
