In 1978 Mary Frances went from disbelief to total belief in God within seconds. The often funny, moving and sometimes spectacular events that followed took her on a journey – constantly asking questions and working out her own answers with humour and common sense. Meanwhile there were fantasy visits to a cottage, her own special place where Mary and Jesus gave her tea, cakes and comfort. In time, views of mountains and oceans and sulphurous landscapes opened out to show present and future events – both in her own life and in the world. Her quest for truth finally came to a conclusion in Medjugorje, a village in Bosnia where the mother of Jesus is said to have appeared to six children in 1981 and has apparently been doing so at the same time every day since. To find out for herself, the author visited the place twice, the second time during the horrific Bosnian war, only 10 miles from the front line, and found – with awe but without surprise - that Medjugorje not only proved the authenticity of her special place, but also validated the apparitions. The story is told with humour and immediacy and describes the many steps along the way, including divorce at 60, careers in politics and art, a world cruise and, at 70, a course in journalism and a national award. Through it all lies a strong thread of faith in the beauty and power of God, an absolute belief that, with trust, He answers our prayers with efficiency, promptitude - and love.

About the Book
Mary was a 'free thinker'. a compass influenced by a million distracting metal parts. Her needle veered haphazardly, pointing nowhere in particular. But on 23rd April 1978, at around two minutes past five, she found the magnetic North - and went from nowhere to God in 30 seconds.The sometimes funny, sometimes spectacular and often moving events that followed have been shaping her life ever since. Those events are still happening and, 30 years later, she is still amazed.
About the Author
Mary Frances was brought up in Nottingham, the youngest of seven children. She came to Bristol in 1961 with her husband, was divorced in 1990 and moved to North Somerset. Sadly, he died in 2008, but their two sons still live in Bristol, both involved in the music industry. Until recently a local correspondent and feature writer with her local newspaper, she now devotes herself entirely to writing books.
