...We got there just in time to hear the choir sing before the preacher man got up to begin his sermon. Everybody was up, shouting, clapping, and dancing. I really didn't want to be there. Mama rejoiced, while my younger jumped up and down, pretending to be in the Holy Ghost. I just stood there looking out the window, watching couples go into the local tavern, where they too were singing and dancing. Only they were dancing to Count Basie, while we danced to Jesus....

About the Author
Gabriel Israel Green was born and raised in Pontiac, MI. He graduated from the high school formally known as Pontiac Northern High. He currently still resides in Pontiac, and is attending school at Oakland Community College with a major in Liberal Arts. This is his first collection of poetry and he looks to continue writing to move closer towards his goal of one day becoming a New York Best Seller.
