It took a half black man to become President
To let these black men feel relevant
With their chest poked out
Hopes not lost in doubt
Their heads up in the air
Looking proud don’t care if you stare
Believing anything is possible
No longer skeptical
It took Martin with his dream
It took Obama to break the routine
Blood sweat and tears
All the world unite with cheers
A day they wanted for years
Black men finally feeling equal
Knowing that it can be a sequel
Time of forgiveness and reparations paid
Past behind you of being a slave
Does this half black man redeem us?
It’s his vision we trust
Black pride at an all time high
It wasn’t sad to see black men cry
After they heard his speech, all were reached
With a unified mantra
“yes we can” “yes we can”
