A critical analysis of the Bangladesh genocide with the Jewish genocide of WW11 and other recent genocides and the place of International Laws
When Hitler came to power in Germany in January 1933, he blamed Jews for the WWI defeat and the economic hardships, highlighting an international Jewish conspiracy against the master race. During second WWII, Adolf Hitler wanted to purify Germany. He wanted a pure Aryan race which could not be constructed unless all European Jews were exterminated, together with gypsies, homosexuals, and other inferior races. They also believed Poles, Slaves and trade unionists were subhuman and should also be eliminated.
Jewish genocide by Nazi in WWII and Bengali genocide by Pakistani Army in 1971 are events that clearly prove why the Bengali genocide is worse than any other genocide in history.
1. In Germany, the night of November ninth – Kristallnacht, the night of broken glass – was the beginning of the Jewish Holocaust following an incident in Paris when seventeen-year-old Herschel Grynszpan shot and killed Ernest Vomrath, a German embassy official in retaliation for the harsh treatment of his Jewish parents by Nazi. This incident enraged Nazi Government. Storm troopers set fire to 1,000 synagogues, beat shop owners, broke in and looted shops. Ninety Jews were killed and 200,000 arrested, ultimately to die in concentration camps.
In the Bangladesh genocide, on the 25 March 1971, General Yahya Khan launched Operation Search Light in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). Death squads roamed in the cities and killed hundreds and thousands of Bengalis, just like the Nazis, because Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a Bengali, had democratically won the national election of December 1970.
2. The Nazi mass murder began in mid 1941 with mass expulsion. It was led by the death squad Einsatzgruppen accompanying the advancing troops that invaded USSR and was supported by local collaborators.
In the Bangladesh genocide, the Pakistani Army under General Yahya Khan, with other top generals and collaborators, systematically tortured, killed, and raped millions of Bengalis beginning on 25 March 1971, causing the mass exodus of 10 million Bengali refugees to India to escape the genocide just like the Nazis did.
3. In Germany, Senior Nazi Generals and bureaucrats on 20 January 1942 called the Wannsee Conference in Berlin for the final solution of European Jews (Endlosung) to coordinate the systemic murder of Jews, stage by stage. The method of execution was gassing in specially designed annihilation camps in Poland, Chelmo, Betzc, Majdanck, Sobibor, and Treblinka. By far the greatest number of Jews perished at the sixth location in the Auschwitz Birkenau complex. Fifteen top Nazi generals led by Reinhardt Hedrick, second in command of SS, were present in this conference. In the code named Aktion Reinhard, 2 million Jews were gassed.
In Bangladesh genocide on 22 February 1971, General Yahya Khan and top Pakistani generals called the Larkana Conference in Zulfiqur Ali Bhutto’s home town. They took a decision to mass murder 3 million and more Bengalis, including all political leaders, all Awami League leaders and activists, and all Bengali intellectuals within 267 days – a horrific genocide worse than Jewish genocide and the bloodiest in the twentieth century. General Yahya Khan’s Operation Search Light was like Hitler’s Endlosung for the Jewish final solution.
4. The Nazi Army brutally raped thousands of European women in the Soviet Union and many other countries.
In Bangladesh, 200,000 to 450,000 women were tortured, murdered, raped, or enslaved by the army for sex, leading to many terminations of pregnancy and delivery of war babies; mothers committed suicide from the shame of their debasement. About the Book
A common theme throughout my book explores how Almighty God, Creator of the universe, is the controller of the entire destiny of mankind, and of all the creations on earth, throughout history through science and religion. The book describes how I, a Bengali boy, survived all the uncertainties, many tragedies and dangerous upheavals to fulfil my destiny to be a doctor with God’s blessing. Born in 1943, a child of the British Empire, in a Bengali family of Chittagong, I qualified as a medical doctor in 1965 from Chittagong medical college. My family survived the forgotten Holocaust of the Bengal famine (1943-44), WW11 carnage in Asia and in Europe, blood bath of communal riots between Hindu, Muslim and Sikh causing millions of death and uprooting millions across the Indo-Pakistan border following the partition of India in 1947 into two independent nations of Pakistan, a Muslim state, and India, a Hindu state. East Bengal became East Pakistan, and since then, the Bengali people suffered continuous discrimination, imprisonment and brutal murder for protesting to restore Bangla Basha (Bangla language), for Bengalis. For 24 years, the Pakistani Government consistently denied Bengalis their democratic rights for social, political and economic equity, until Bangladesh became a free nation in 1971 following the liberation war against Pakistan. My father wanted me to become the first medical doctor in his family. The book explores how my destiny was shaped and reshaped through many national and international upheavals of historical importance. Following the 1970 national election victory of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the army of General Yahya Khan, president of Pakistan, murdered more than 3 million Bengalis in a bloody genocide in order to deny the democratically elected right of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a Bengali, to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
About the Author
Dr Adil Khan was born in Bangladesh and qualified as a medical doctor from Chittagong Medical College. Following hospital training, he came to the UK in 1968 for postgraduate training. He gained a diploma in tropical diseases and hygiene (DTM&H) from Edinburgh University, and also gained extensive training in general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, gynaecology and obstetrics, and trauma. He is a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS) and is also trained in hypnotherapy. For the last 28 years he has worked as a primary care physician in the NHS based in Kent.
