About the Book
To describe the collection of poetry by Manuel and Leonor here one needs only to briefly peruse these pages to get a glimpse of the range and variety of poems they have comprised in this their first book. They draw their poems from two lifetimes of experience and the diversity of subjects they write about is daunting. They write about athletes, architecture, suicide, friends, relatives, the stock market, schizophrenia, death and many other subjects. with at least 18 poems having a spiritual connection. There are more than 45 short and long poems translated into Spanish as both authors are of Spanish descent. THIS SIDE OF HEAVEN / ESTE LADO DEL CIELO was mostly written over a two year period but some of the poems date back many years. Manuel and Leonor have been writing for many years and they just recently decided to allow others to share in the very personal poetry.
About the Author
Born into a Spanish-American family, in the state of New Mexico, Manuel was the fifth sibling of eleven children and the first to graduate from a major university with an Engineering and Fine Arts degrees. He has been writing poetry since high school. Leonor was born in Northern Mexico and is the third sibling of eight children. She has been writing for many years. Manuel and Leonor met through a mutual friend and after a brief courtship married only to discover they each have a passion for writing. They decided to publish their first book using some of their poetry and short stories from their collection of writings.
