About the Book

This book is about a 12 years old boy who was having problems when he was younger and couldnt get his way; but has learned how to reduce stress and stay out of trouble, by learning behavior management skills.  He learns by making mistakes and listening to his family, friends and teachers.  He has become an expert on these issues; then goes out to help his family and friends deal with their stress.  He also in a cunning way, get his family and friends to do his work and chores.  This book will teach children how to think of ways to solve problems, reduce stress and make the right choice to stay in control of their behavior.  The book is humorous and fun to read for children and adults. 

 

Teachers, Social Workers, Clinical Professionals and Parents will love that this book has a lesson plan, home work, poem, tips to reduce stress and a song.  The activities are planned for Head Start Programs to Elementary Schools and will be a great tool for Parents to use at home.


About the Author

Brenda Thomas was born in Beaumont, TX, one of five children.  Ms. Thomas had a love for writing as early at the young age of eight years old.  She realized that writing was her gift, when she needed to do a book report for her reading class, but was not able to get to the library, to check out a book for the report.  The night before she created a story and wrote a report from her own story.  The book report was given an A and that is when all the writing began of short stories, poems and songs. 

 

  While working for Public School, Child Development Programs and Head Start; she attended Austin Community College, Southern University and Lamar University majoring in Child Development.  She worked for Child Incorporated, the Head Start Program in Austin TX, for twenty years under the direction of James Strickland.  She was employed as a Teacher, Science Coordinator, Center Education Coordinator, Mentor and Trainer for the program.  After retiring from the Head Start Program, she worked as a Substitute Teacher for the 4th grade at Blanchett Elementary for two years. She is now presently employed with Travis County-Children F.I.R.S.T., as a Case Coordinator, serving children and families.

 

She volunteers her services as a Coalition Member, where she supports Kinship Caregivers (people who are raising their relatives children 1-800-304-6427).  She is an advocate for Austin Independent School District; where she volunteers on the UpClose Committee, working on different tasks for the District.  Her life is based on the word of GOD and is spiritually advised by the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she serves as an Usher.  She said I was born to write, anything, anywhere at any time of day or night.
