Out of the Ashes Out of the ashes I rise, burnt on every side Pain so fierce that it only shows when no one is near Open and exposed no one to know How deep my hurts really go Can’t trust what I see, it’s always been an enemy to me I saw it, it haunts my days, it tells me I will be me always Each instance my future becomes less bright As I saw it, I died that night It jumps time and space to fool those thought of escape Out of the ashes I can now see, who I was destined to be My mind takes me back to a time when the pain was only mine As I’m trapped hope flees so easily as a phoenix which was set free I am surrounded on all sides by a fire that does not die It’s my time, don’t stand too near as I prepared for hope in heavens ear Out of the ashes I climb with each of me exposed To see which is the real me and which opens my soul Out of the ashes, all I can wish for is a seat at heavens door A place when ashes exist no more. The burns are deep the scars will start to heal The reason the burns exist is to seal the deal So going into the ashes may be my destiny But if I can escape the ashes, only then will I be free

About the Book
A peak into my soul started years ago as a way to express my inner most thoughts. The title at the time wasn’t “ a peak into my soul”; it was the title I gave to a folder because I couldn’t think of a print worthy title. After weeks of looking at it, it stuck for these words express my inner most thoughts. These were written in times of angst and agony, times of hurt and pain, times of confusion, mystification and discomposure. It was started from a male’s perspective but I believe ended up gender neutral because pain is neutral. The range of human emotion is so vast, why we spend most of it emoting things more negative than positive goes back to our Adamic nature but that's another story. These are my thoughts, not some scholar writing a thesis or words written by some student whose life totals may never reach the level of emotion these words portray. They are words from a man, a simple man who has experienced the full gamut of life’s tragedies and triumphs. I was always told that life is what you make it, which is so true. Even with tragedies we must never allow ourselves to be defined by them, refined by them but not defined by them. We are the proverbial ore awaiting our time to shine. In this short span on earth that we call life, we will have to go through the fire in order to experience our full potential. Have I reached mine yet, I don’t think so but I would like to think that I am on my way.

About the Author
Mitchell presently serves as assistant Pastor of all Denominations Christian Center located in Memphis, Tennessee under his father Pastor Charlie Tate Sr., where he has been a member for a number of years.
Mitchell previously worked in the warehousing industry as an Operations Manager for a top third party logistics company. He started in warehousing as a shipping clerk and worked his way into management.
Mitchell is married to a wonderful and very supportive wife (Michelle Tate) for almost four years and together they have five children; Brooke, Dwayne, Malachi, Mya and Makyla.
Mitchell served four years in the United States Marine Corps from 1987 until 1991 where he seved as a Fire Direction control center for a 60 mm mortar section. While serving he was involved in Desert Shield, Desert Storm as well as multiple deployments in the Mediterranean and Quantanimo Bay Cuba.
