The story is about a single mother of two, who joins a dating service to meet her perfect match.After several match-ups from hell, she finally meets a police officer. What better protection and role model for her children could she have expected to find? It was too good to be true! When they first met, she thought he would be perfect and thought to herself how lucky she was. He seemed to be very attentive and a real romantic; what a refreshing change! They had only been dating a short time before Christmas, when he surprised her with tickets to a musical. She was completely floored. No-one had ever treated her that kindly before; especially so early into their relationship!
So far, you would think that this was a match made in heaven wouldn't you? A successful and respected police officer who not only swept her off her feet, but someone who could protect her and her children and provide for the family, so that she wouldn't have to work such long, hard hours anymore.To top it all off, he gave the impression of being head over heals in love with her.

As her story unfolds, through suppressed tears and quivering voice, you will discover the terrible treatment and mental abuse that she had to endure for many years.
As she takes us through the final chapters of her desolving marriage and reveals to us about the corruption and illegal practices that her husband was involved in, it comes as a great relief to know that she is now free from all of that. About the Author
Laurie has resided in the Durham Region area for over the past forty years. She moved there with her family when it still looked like farm land. Houses were few and far between and there were no big shopping malls around there then. She justed loved how friendly all of the people were and they all had that country warmth about them. Now, Durham has been built up almost as much as the city, yet to her, it still posesses that same warmth about it and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. She enjoys meeting new people and making new friends. She also enjoys writing as a form of relaxation. She has published a children's book recently and now she has just finished her new book, "Escape." It will be her first published novel.
She enjoys helping people and hopes that her book will somehow help them to take a step back and see the similarities of her story. Sometimes, people don't realize that they are being abused or taken advantage of until they see it happening to someone else! That's when they say to themselves, "That's what was happening to me! How could I have been so blind?"
