Prologue
Along the Yucatan Peninsula, there is a maze of caves. Within these caves, many secrets of the lost Mayan remain. Mankind never discovered these secrets perhaps because the caves were so vast that some were even impassable. Until this day, these caves guard the secrets of the ancient ones. In the complex of caves, writings of the Ancient Mayan appear all along the walls that include religious spells and rituals once performed by many Mayan. These writings would appear obsolete to most, but some still perform these ancient rituals.
Some of the Mayan civilization still exists, mainly descendants, but one man remains that cannot be classified as a descendant. This man appears to be as old as time. He remains within the caves, dressed in black. He pays homage to the Mayan Gods. He holds true to all his religion represents.
Within the caverns stand thirteen different pedestals. Ten of them are occupied with objects, which are covered by a mask. He moves over to the pedestals and bends down to worship the objects.
He laughs mysteriously, knowing very well what those shrouded characters can do. He knows their strengths and their weaknesses. He knows if he continues to worship them in the Mayan ways he could accomplish great things.
Under the shrouds, there are ten crystal skulls, not an ordinary archeological find, but they contain the power and wisdom of the ancients.
Supposedly, if you put all thirteen in a circle, these skulls would reveal all their ancient secrets. The mysterious man in black obtained his ten skulls by begging borrowing, and yes, even stealing.
When the skulls were in the possession of scientists and archaeologists, they were radiocarbon dated to be between five and thirty-five thousand years old. They were made from crystal, one of the hardest substances on earth next only to diamonds.
Most people that worked with the skulls were amazed by the quality of workmanship - they were perfect. There were no tool marks at all. So, the question remains to this very day, how did ancient man accomplish such a feat?
Some believed the skulls were from Atlantis, remnants of a civilization lost ages ago. Others simply pinpoint their actual origins. Some have said they have seen the skulls move all on their own. Could that be caused by the ancient Mayan magic?
It is believed these skulls were the computers of the ancients, but they will not reveal their secrets until the thirteenth is found. It is believed they will reveal to mankind their true origins and how to prevent mankind’s demise. The man in black only has ten and must find the other three.
According to an ancient Mayan legend – the Mayan Doomsday Prophecy - the earth will end, as we know it, on December 21, 2012. So, if this were true, time is of the essence in locating the missing skulls.
But this man is not trying to find the skulls to save the world. His intent is to hide all the skulls to disallow the prevention of the demise of mankind.
The man worships these skulls, but it was also predicted in the Mayan legend that a Crusader would emerge, one who would stop the destruction of the earth. This wicked soul who worships the skulls in the Mayan way will vow to stop this person because he believes the end of mankind must occur and for whatever reason, he desires this hardship to occur. But he lacks the remaining three skulls.
So, it is very apparent this man in black has no conscience and thinks only of himself and the power he, an eternal, will gain. He doesn’t think about the result of his actions, he doesn’t care about the billions of innocent people that would die. This does not concern the man. He vows to allow the destruction, regardless of the lengths to which he must go. He worships all of the Mayan Gods. He knows he will survive.
The Mayan believed in human sacrifice; the ancients thought human blood was the most powerful thing they could offer to the Gods in order to balance nature and the cosmos. They also believed this act would bring answers to all prayers.
Their chosen method of sacrifice was decapitation, mostly of prisoners of war. For years, it has been known that the Mayan was a ruthless race, but in the end, they were very advanced people.
Not much information was left about their civilization because when the Spanish conquistadors conquered them, most everything was destroyed. They believed the Mayan were devil worshipers regardless of their advanced civilization. Due to the well-hidden secret of the caves, some of their culture was preserved. Historical archeologists protected what was found while others used it for evil purposes. The Mayan knew even a millennium ago that the year 2012 drew near and time was of the essence. How this culture became so well educated, no one really knows. Of course, there were theories, but they were simply that.
This elusive man seemed to know a great deal about the Mayan ways. He seemed to be a conduit plugged into the Mayan ways of magic. Here, hidden in this maze of caves, he performed the various rituals of the ancient civilization.
These people were a bloodthirsty civilization. Blood was a very valuable commodity. If captured, most knew their inevitable fate was to be sacrificed to the Gods. The high priest most often used the decapitati
