About the Book

The book relates the history of the Eastern Province of the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration. The Sisters of this religious congregation first came to Lafayette, Indiana, from their founding location in Olpe, Westphalia, Germany, in 1875.  An earlier volume, published in 1940, chronicled their history from 1875 to 1940.  The congregation grew in membership and, in 1940,  was divided into two Provinces, one based in Lafayette, Indiana, (and later in Mishawaka, Indiana), and the other in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  The present volume relates the history of the Indiana Province from 1940 to 2006 and traces the development of the teaching and healthcare ministries of the Eastern Province.
