About the Book

Noises in the Night is a wonderful story about a child who cannot sleep because noises are filtering in from outside.  These noises, familiar to those who live in the country, include the sounds of crickets, frogs, and dogs to name a few.  The child, of course, seeks the comfort of a parent-in this case the mother-who explains the noises as a "song of nature."  The mother eases the child's concerns and all is well-both inside and out. Your children will love learning about the sounds of nature and reading this bedtime story with you.

About the Author

Gates is an alumnus of Texas A & M University-Texarkana and a mother of two.  With a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's in progress, her interests include poetry, cooking, and reading to her children.

Being a mother doesn't leave time for much else, but Gates manages to find time to make a contribution to her love of poetry and children's literature.

Gates hopes that her experience as a teacher, a writer, and a mother will help her to make many more contributions to the field of children's literature.
