This Fighting must Stop!

Excerpt from short story

Mama wanted us to love one another; this was one of the greatest lessons, Edmonds and I would have to learn. We would get in fights around the house; most times Edmonds would get the upper hand. I will never forget, Edmonds and I were fighting and he hit me in the nose with his fist and my nose began bleeding, little did we know that this ordeal would change our lives forever. After which, mama whipped us both. I will never forget our fights; they seems as they were becoming more violent. Mother comes out of the house and says enough is enough, calling us together and she tell us to go to the edge of the woods and get two switches Edmonds, got one and I got the other. Thank God mine was the longer one; then mama, said I am tried of you boys fighting you all are going to keep fighting until you put one another eyes out. Mama said, “Edmonds you are going to whip Rabbit and He is going to whip you until I say stop. Those switches most have been about five too six feet long so Edmonds and I began whipping one another. It seem as though it was forever. I remember my aunt walking down the road she ask, my mother, “what is going on?” She said to my mother Henrietta, you should be ashamed of yourself. That did not change my mama mind, because mama had heard the story of her father uncles who were brother how they would fight. One of them ends up dying from his injuries. Mama, also knew about generation curses. Mother finely stopped us from whipping one another. From that very day, I never remember fighting my brother again. Mother was full of wisdom.

Its cost has risen.

Its dependency is in great demand.

It’s impossible to function without it.

As foreign children,

From foreign lands,

We search for a breast to suck.

Kidnapped

She saw him; he'd learn to hide well.
He was missing for a long time.
Very shy and timid was his clothing,
and his t-shirt had stripes.
In a secret room;
He sits quietly, content within himself.
